Wha' Happen? Pitchfork happened! Somehow your favorite local band garnered an 8.7 out of 10 on the honest-to-the-point-of-being-ruthless-sometimes Pitchfork Media music webzine. That makes us quantitatively better than Magnetic Fields or Air, but not as good as Franz Ferdinand or Loretta Lynn. Go Read, quickly!!!

I did a bit of driving last weekend and was able to see some incredible music. If you have the opportunity to see Devendra Banhart or Joanna Newsom or Vetiver or Tortoise you should GO GO GO!

I've been mourning Robert Quine's death the last couple of days. I pulled out all my Matthew Sweet and Lloyd Cole cds. The songs that seem to fuel or soothe my sadness the most are "I wanted to tell you" and "Nothing Lasts" from Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend", "Life without you" from "Altered Beast", and "Like Lovers Do" from Lloyd Cole's "Love Story". He was an incredible guitarist whose often throw away fills and counter melodies lent Matthew Sweet's saccharin drizzled pop a respectability that would have been impossible without his, Richard Lloyd's, and Ivan Julian's help. Thanks for leaving many, many recordings to study, Robert.

Many apologies to anyone who came out to the show Last night at Godzilla's. Honestly we were as bummed as you are. Here's the scoop, though, if you're still wondering why everyone got kicked out just as we were about to start playing: Evidently, there was a group of people hanging out in the alley. This must have bothered some neighbor who called the landlord of the building. The landlord came down to the building and was threatening to call the cops on the whole affair. Thus everyone got kicked out. Again we're really sorry. After this explanation, if you're still really upset, please send us an email and we'll try to make it up to you.

I know it's been a a couple of months since our DC show, but you can still order a poster from that show over at Silver Three. It's a beautiful poster and possibly the only time you'll ever see a poster with our name and a human skull with wings on the same piece of paper.
